Referral Program

Last reviewed: 2026-04-01 · Nnamdi Status: Complete Route: /settings/referrals

1. What is it?

The Referral Program lets users earn commissions by referring new businesses to Finora. Each user gets a unique referral code to share. When a referred user subscribes to a paid plan, the referrer earns a one-time commission. Referred users get 5% off their first subscription. Payouts are automatic when the balance reaches ₦5,000.

4. Nigerian regulatory context

Referral commissions are taxable income under Nigerian tax law. Businesses should account for referral earnings in their financial records.

5. Common customer questions

Q: "When do I get paid?"

Commissions have a 14-day cooling period. After that, they're added to your available balance. When the balance reaches ₦5,000, it's automatically paid out to your bank account.

Q: "Do I earn every month when my referral renews?"

No — commissions are one-time. You earn when they first subscribe only.

Q: "Where do I set my payout bank account?"

Go to Business Settings (/settings) and add a bank account there. Referral payouts go to the same account.

6. Known edge cases

No bank account configured for payouts

The test business has no bank account configured. Commissions will accrue but cannot be paid out until a bank account is added in Business Settings.

7. Escalation trigger

Escalate to Tier 3 (Founder) if: - Commission wasn't credited for a valid referral - Payout failed despite reaching the threshold

Escalate to Tier 2 (Support Lead) if: - Customer needs help sharing their referral code - Customer questions the commission rate or amount
