What PenCom Codes Are¶
PenCom (National Pension Commission) assigns unique employer codes to all registered employers under the Contributory Pension Scheme. These codes identify the employer when submitting pension contributions.
Code Format¶
PenCom employer codes follow the format: PEN[digits] (e.g., PEN100123456)
Where They're Used¶
| Context | Usage |
|---|---|
| PenPay uploads | Employer code identifies the contributing employer |
| PFA remittance | Included in the remittance schedule |
| PenCom compliance audits | Used to verify employer registration and contribution history |
Where to Find Your Code¶
- The employer's PenCom code is issued during registration with PenCom
- Check the employer's PenCom registration certificate
- Contact PenCom or the employer's PFA for the code
Finora Integration¶
Finora does not currently have a field for the PenCom employer code in Business Settings. The code can be: - Included in the Description field when exporting pension schedules - Added manually to the PenPay CSV before upload
Common Issues¶
- "I don't have a PenCom code" → The employer may not be registered with PenCom. Registration is required for all employers with 3+ employees. Guide them to register at pencom.gov.ng.
- "My PenPay upload was rejected" → The PenCom employer code may be missing or incorrect. Verify the code with PenCom directly.
